The RACO Grip-Lok 8977 is a professional-grade old-work switch box support designed to provide a secure mounting solution for electrical boxes in hollow wall applications. Constructed from durable stamped steel with a corrosion-resistant finish, these supports—commonly known as Madison hangers—allow standard switch boxes with plaster ears to be easily converted for use in existing walls. The installation process is straightforward: simply slip the Grip-Lok between the box and the wall, then bend the 1-7/8-inch legs into the box for a firm, stable fit. Ideal for renovation and retrofit projects, this UL-listed support ensures electrical boxes remain flush and secure against the wall surface.
